Shelf & Solitude Lakes - Rocky Mountain National Park, CO
This album is from my trip to Estes Park, Colorado last summer. I revisited one of my favorite places, the YMCA of the Rockies, and went hiking every single day. The weather was perfect! There's nothing like a clear blue Colorado sky to remind you of what a great thing it is to be alive!
I hope you like these pictures of my hike to Shelf & Solitude Lakes. To reach these lakes, you hike up Glacier Gorge and then cut off to the right and scramble up a rocky ledge to the shelf high above. It's a little tricky in some places, but the views are spectacular! Once you get above treeline, you can see all of the most famous summits in the park, including the Keyboard of the Winds, Long's Peak, Pagoda, and the Shark's Tooth.
